Every day this week, members of the dbb dev team will host live building sessions to will help you get set for the jam. There’ll be time to get involved in creating things, and have your questions answered – and every stream will be packed with valuable tips and tricks for using dot big bang.

It’s the start of a new year, and it’s going to be another big one here at dot big bang. So there’s no time like the present to tell you all what we’re planning to bring to you in 2024!

There are loads of new creator features in the pipeline, including the terrain editor, a reworked social layer, a dedicated store, a grants program for developers, a script importer, and lots more. Read on to find out more!

10 Winter Games To Try On dbb

Winter is here, and there are loads of fun wintertime environments and games to try out on dot big bang.

First up, the dev team have made a variety of fun winter games to play, like the snowy version of Hub World, and the present-collecting game Santa’s Pesky Present Panic.

There are also some more recent additions like this high-speed toboggan riding game (with pugs!), and the interactive Snow People Decorator and Gingerbread Kit.

The dot big bang community have also made plenty of frosty dioramas, snow-laden environments, and cozy seasonal games to try out. You can find five of our favorites below.

Learn To Make Games At Micro Jam Week!

The Global Game Jam 2024 is coming up fast, with jammer registrations opening on Monday Dec 4th. To celebrate, we’re running the first dot big bang Micro Jam Week!

This is a series of five daily co-building streams that’ll help you learn to make games on dot big bang. The streams will happen on Twitch and YouTube each day from the 4th-8th December, at 14:00 PST / 17:00 ET / 22:00 GMT.

Hosted by members of the dbb dev team, each micro jam will show you how to make something awesome on dot big bang, whether it’s making a new character, designing a small game world, or whipping up a custom player controller.

Remix-Off: Make A Cat & Get A Free Skin!

Hope you’re feeling creative – because it’s time for a new dot big bang Remix-Off!

A Remix-Off is when we provide a base game or voxel object for you to remix and make into your own version. At the end, we’ll pick our favourites from all the entries posted in Discord or through a comment on the Remix Object. Everyone who enters will get an awesome cat skin – and the top three winners will get a special prize (more on that later!).

It’s a fun way to get some creative inspiration, practice making things in dot big bang, and show off your work. Interested? Read on to find out how to enter.

Autumn Draws Closer: dot big bang v0.9.12

dot big bang v0.9.12 is a small update that brings some editor fixes, a new remixable version of Thrust Heroes, and a bunch of autumnal clothing to wear in the Avatar Editor!

For the uninitiated, Thrust Heroes is a jetpack speed-run game with Easy, Medium, and Hard courses. You can invite friends and race for the best time. And with this update, you can now hit the remix button to get your own version, and adapt the courses – or change the game completely!

The latest version of dot big bang brings some great new usability features for our developer community. So let’s not waste any time and take a tour through a few of them!

Getting Ortho: dot big bang v0.9.11 has launched!

This latest version of dot big bang is a featured packed platform and editor update!

We’ve added a much better Global Search to the top bar of the website to provide a one-stop place to find games to play, objects to admire, and even other gamers! We’ve also added an Announcement feature to the top bar, so check out the notifications for new and exciting things from the world of dot big bang. Hopefully you even got here through that system!

The Voxel Object Editor now has an orthographic camera to help with 3D object modelling, and the Game Editor has received a plethora of helpful updates and additions. Find out more in the full changelog below!

Spooky Season: dot big bang v0.9.10 is live!

dot big bang has gothed up for Halloween with v0.9.10 which brings with it a cauldron full of new content. We’ve added eight new ghastly skins to the store, a whole halloween themed updated to Pocket Garden that adds a new crop and a brand new map for Diamond Wars.

On top of that we’re bringing a few new quality of life features to our editors, mobile users will find their button layout more forgiving and obvious, and the quality of shadows across the platform has been improved!
